Cardiff Met Recycling News Spring 2014

Well Done! Recycling still rising.

The segregation of Food Waste is helping to reduce Cardiff Met’s landfill figures. This encouraging result is down to your efforts.

Landfill

Landfill figures in 2013 were subject to both positive and negative influences:-

  • On the positive side increased recycling and the university-wide rollout of food waste segregation is helping.
  • On the negative side the building renewal and refurbishment works inevitably throw up more general waste.

Recycling

Recycling figures have improved year on year as the graph shows.

We now recycle:

Wood, Metal, Batteries, Printer Cartridges, all sorts of Electrical goods and Food Waste. Our Re-use site is also another way of ensuring that our waste is minimised. Our eventual aim is to recycle at least 75% of our total waste.

STOP PRESS!

In Academic Year 2014/15 ALL waste from Cardiff Met will go for Energy Recovery, not to landfill.
