Freelancing Fair 2017

Thursday 16th March
12.30pm - 3.30pm

The Heart Space, Cardiff School of Art & Design, Llandaff Campus

The Careers Service at Cardiff Metropolitan University has teamed up with the School of Art & Design to provide a freelancing fair tailored primarily to those students who are interested in finding out more about freelancing opportunities.

The event is free to attend, open to students of all years and whilst it is tailored towards students from the School of Art & Design we welcome students from all Schools to come along if they wish.

Why should I attend?

If you are looking to find out more about how freelancing works, find opportunities and meet companies who employ freelance artists, the Freelancing Fair is great opportunity for you to do so.

Here are some of the other key reasons you should attend;

  • gain a greater understanding of the freelancing market
  • enhance your employability skills by gaining real-life work experience
  • enable you to make informed module choices and decide on a career path to suit you
  • start to build networks with recruiters that may be very useful in the future
  • find a freelancing opportunity that suits you

Who will be attending?

We have invited a variety of organisations to the event so that we can cater for a range of freelancing opportunities.

A list of attendees will be posted here once they are confirmed.

What do I need to do before attending?

  • Familiarise yourself with the companies that are attending and write down the ones that interest you

  • Do your research on the company so that you'll be able to talk knowledgeably about them on the day and impress the recruiters
  • Get your CV and LinkedIn profile ready – the employer may want to see what skills and experience you have so may ask for a CV or may want to know your LinkedIn address.
  • Confirm your place by booking onto the event via CareerHub – www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/careerhub.

The Careers Service is here to help you get the best out of this event. If you have any questions about the day or would like to speak to someone about how best to prepare, pop into the Careers Service on either campus to talk to us.
