School of Health Sciences CareerFest 2016
Health & Social Care Volunteering Fair
Wednesday 12th October 2016
10.00am – 12noon
Atrium and Hospitality Suite, School of Management, Llandaff Campus
The Careers Service at Cardiff Metropolitan University is working with your course to host a volunteering fair for the School of Health Sciences – open to all students at all levels.
Why should I attend?
Volunteering can help you to:
- gain a greater understanding of the voluntary sector and its service users
- enhance your employability skills by gaining valuable work experience
- enable you to make informed module choices and decide on a career path to suit you
- give a little something back to the community and make a difference to the lives of others
Who will be attending?
There will be a wide variety of volunteering organisations at the event, which will hopefully mean that everyone can find a charity or a project that they find really interesting and want to get involved with. Click on the link below to find out who will be at the event.
(Top tip: do your research – the more you know about the organisation, the more you'll be able to talk to their representatives)

What your lecturers say:
"Work experience is a crucial opportunity for you to be able to put the theory you learn with us into practice. There are so many opportunities for you to get involved in whatever interests you. Having a good record of work experience is vital for your career prospects at the end of the course. Those who engage well with work experience invariably find an interesting graduate-level job at the end of the course, but anyone who does not is likely to struggle".
Dan Burrows, Lecturer in Health & Social Care and PPD
