Types of work experience

What kinds of work experience are there?

Within the programme of study:

  • Sandwich placement, i.e. typically 40-48 weeks, in course related employment
  • Summer placement, typically 8-12 weeks, in course related employment - may be paid or unpaid
  • Professional placement to develop competence in course related field - may be in short block, as day release, or another arrangement
  • Work-linked projects or 'live' projects - individual or group in which students work directly with, or on behalf of, an employer or client as part of their course of study
