Denise Buckley

Learning Development Officer (Blended Learning)
Room number: M0.01
Extension number: 7179

I have worked in the Learning and Teaching Development Unit at Cardiff Met since July 2006. Since then I have worked predominately with the Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) developing and enhancing support for all staff within the University. Part of my role is the design and development of workshops for delivery for all academic, support and administration staff, organising and facilitating these workshops and uncovering tools and techniques for better enhancement of programmes and modules. Other parts to my role are to organise events for dissemination of good practices within the University, attend conferences and events from the wider community and evaluate current issues within this arena.

Previous to working at Cardiff Met, I was the lead trainer for ICT at the Dublin Institute of Technology for 6 years. I have also taught ICT in both North Carolina and South Carolina within the school system and FE.

My background is in Business and Information Technology with further qualifications from the British Computer Society. I have a PG Certificate, PG Diploma and MA in 3rd Level Learning and Teaching from the Dublin Institute of Technology. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2006.

I am a qualified British Wheel of Yoga Teacher and Pregnancy Yoga Teacher and teach yoga one evening a week. I have two delightful children and am a School Governor for my local primary school.
