Loretta Newman-Ford - Academic Development

Loretta Newman-Ford

Academic Development Specialist
Room number: M0.01
Extension Number: 5745

I joined the Learning and Teaching Development Unit at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2009 and since then, have undertaken a number of roles within the Unit. I have also managed several JISC-funded projects, which primarily explored the ways in which technology can be used to enhance the design and delivery of academic programmes.

My current role as Academic Development Specialist involves coordinating a range of institutional level learning and teaching activities and supporting staff development in areas of learning, teaching and assessment.

Some of the work I have been involved in recently includes: the coordination of the Moodle transition project, the development of an education for sustainable development self-evaluation tool, the creation of a personal tutoring resource for staff and development of e-portfolio-based learning approaches. I am also responsible for managing the internal process for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme.

In my spare time I enjoy baking, dog walking, badminton and snowboarding. I love arts and crafts, and especially enjoy making my own novelty Christmas jumpers! I travel whenever I have the opportunity and love to try local foods from around the world.
