Room number: M0.01

I have worked in the Learning and Development Unit at Cardiff Met since 2008.  My role is to facilitate the development of staff in their pedagogic practice, ultimately to enhance the student experience. I coordinate the University's CPD Scheme, which enables staff to gain Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy through evidencing their practice, using the UK Professional Standards Framework. I also support Sue Tangney in the delivery of the PgCTHE in Higher Education. Underpinning both of these activities and my wider remit of development of pedagogic practice is my evidence-based approach to teaching and supporting learning. As such I am an active researcher into learning and teaching. My current research activity is centred on belonging and student transition.

I am a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and in 2012 was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship. My background as an occupational therapist influences my practice in seeking to be person-centred, holistic and valuing the importance of active engagement of students.  I have a keen interest in curriculum design, problem-based learning, creativity, reflective practice and student as partners.

I am happiest when camping in a field, on my bike or just being outdoors.
