Football Academy

Cardiff Met's Junior Football programme boasts one of the largest, comprehensive and credible football programmes in South Wales. We operate from participation at our 'Coaching Centre' to more advanced technical development at our 'Academy'. We are an FAW licenced and accredited academy who play in the Dafabet Welsh Premier Academy League(s).

Our club philosophy is delivered by coaches who are current or former Cardiff Met students, some of which are representing Cardiff Met FC in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League. All of our coaches are DBS checked, suitably qualified and have advanced academic and theoretical knowledge.

Academy Objectives

  • To invest in a high-quality youth development programme by developing our players technically, tactically, physically and psycho-socially
  • To produce players who aspire to become fundamental members of the Cardiff Met first team squad in future years
  • To support the personal and educational development of our youth players

Futsal

During December and January, all of our Academy players will participate in The FAW Futsal programme. The importance of this programme lies in the continuation of training and games during the winter period to improve players' development.  By playing futsal, players will be challenged to play in confined spaces under pressure and will be tested technically, tactically and physically. In addition, futsal is very fast paced which makes the games exciting for the players and aligns to the clubs playing style of possession based attractive football.

Cyncoed Campus 3G Pitch

All of our training sessions and games are played at the Cardiff Met Cyncoed Campus on the 3G pitch.  Our 3G pitch has a FIFA 2* rating and has been used by the Wales National Team and English Premier League sides.  It was a host venue for the UEFA Women's Champions League and is the home pitch of the Cardiff Met men's and women's Welsh Premier League teams.
