Clubs

"Support a variety of community based sports clubs that are visible and viable catering for grassroots sport in the city"

Sports clubs and community sports clubs have a vital role to play in ensuring that all Cardiff residents have access to sport. We are investing significantly in the development of our sports clubs to ensure they have everything they need to be sustainable and successful.

Our officers are on hand to provide advice to clubs on various funding streams.

Insport

The insport Club programme is a Disability Sport Wales project, which aims to support the physical activity, sport, and leisure sectors delivering inclusively of disabled people.  Disability Sport Wales know that the majority of adults get to experience great quality sport opportunities within a club environment, and that disabled people may not want to just play sport within a disability sport or impairment specific club or session.  The purpose for insport Club is therefore to support clubs in developing their provision so that it includes disabled people with clubs structures which provide the best opportunities to the community, increase participation and membership, enable larger sections of the community to become involved within a voluntary governance role, and continue to provide great sport across Wales.

Cardiff currently has 11 inclusive clubs, including Rhiwbina Squash Club, Wales' first and only Gold standard racquet sport club.

There are four incremental standards to the insport project – Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold, against which a series of aims have been identified. Sport Cardiff officers can assist your club in insport process by providing advice and guidance as clubs begin the insport journey.
