​Cardiff Metropolitan University is committed to supporting sustainable travel, in order to reduce our impact on the environment, improve the health and well-being of our students and staff, and play our part as a responsible member of the local community.

Our Travel Plan provides a comprehensive framework to continually review and improve University travel practices, and is an essential element of the University's corporate values.

The promotion of walking / running to Campus as a lifestyle choice amongst students and staff. With initiatives such as provision of shower, changing and storage facilities, safe campus walking guides, purchase of Cardiff Marathon places for 90 staff, introduction of walking and running clubs, Walk to work breakfasts packs for four weeks a year. We have three electric vehicles on Campus and are looking to increase this with the review of the leased pool cars.​

Cycle initiatives, for the largest​ work based Bike User Group in Wales in excess of 320 members of staff regularly cycling to work with over 800 students requesting access to the cycle stores to be added to their ID card, upgrade and completion of Cycle Hub, new cycle shelters, sale of secure locks at a third of RRP, Cycle to work purchase scheme in April 2015 saw 29 Academics and 28 support staff participate - a total of 57 new staff bicycles.

The Met Rider timetable and directions to Campus are included on the Cardiff Met App, along with travel promotions via the University Facebook and Twitter accounts. 

We have been successful in our Platinum Travel Award.

Community Days with the Farmers Market, has been a great opporunity to provide free bike mot's on Campus every month for staff and students.
