Biography

James Green has worked at Cardiff School of Art & Design as a lecturer in the Fine Art department since 2011. Travel, and the study of ritualistic art from diverse cultures inspires his artwork; a practice which has taken him on research trips around Europe, Egypt, Ecuador, Santiago and Easter Island, and more recently around Mexico. His Ph.D combined this fascination with ritualistic art, particularly masks, with a wonder of how we see, and whether the experience of a certain type of out of focus vision can be recorded in an artwork. It is this approach to making art that inspires James’ teaching, his work has been exhibited internationally and is kept in a number of private collections.

Current Research

How different artistic cultures are combined in certain artworks, the recording of contemporary through a series of images, particularly using collage and what that might mean for the future, how certain visual conditions have been, and are recorded in artworks.
