Areas of Responsibility
Since 2015, I support an exciting area of cutting-edge research within the School of Art and Design: Fovography and Immersive Technologies, more about which can be found at our web pages
In 2014, after a 28-year career to Board Director level in further and higher education communications, public relations, and organisational improvement, I decided to pursue my passion for art. I completed a teaching qualification to inspire others’ creativity and soon after establishing my creative practice as a mixed media visual artist in 2015 won first prize in the first ever Wales Art Challenge.
The wide range of strategic managerial experience I have gained in business planning, finance, HR, IT, specialist communications and events are used to good effect in supporting a variety of community arts organisations eg.
Well-being is at the heart of my creative work, and layering is used to reveal personal stories, feelings, senses and memories using found objects, vibrant colours and contrasting textures. My workshops for all ages, abilities, and disabilities inspire creativity and I have particular experience teaching care users with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and a range of disabilities and health conditions.
I stand up for issues that concern me and as a resident of east Cardiff, I’m keen to build opportunities for people experiencing disadvantage, illness, disability or abuse, and help individuals of all ages and abilities realise their creative potential.
