Biography

Martijn studied Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands. After finishing his Master’s thesis on a project with CSAD and Prof. Steve Gill, he started as FabLab Cardiff Manager.

FabLab Cardiff is a workshop equipped with the latest in digital manufacturing technology that can be used by designers, artists and the public, as well as companies and other organisations. Users can take advantage of the Cardiff School of Art and Design’s research and expertise to make just about anything.

Martijn’s role is to develop FabLab as an entity, both for (external) designers and artists, as well as an established state of the art research facility for Cardiff Met staff, and a learning opportunity for students.
Before moving to Cardiff, Martijn was very engaged with extra curricular activities during his degree, including organising events for 250+ participants, running sports clubs and managing a sports canteen which provides a steady income for student societies in Enschede.
