Biography

Tim Forrester is one of Britain’s most innovative furniture designers. He achieved great success during a substantial period spent working in Milan & returned to the UK to continue designing & manufacturing his high quality, inspirational and versatile furniture ranges.

Tim’s work is regularly featured in leading design publications worldwide and has continued to exhibit internationally at the likes of Salone del Mobile and Euroluce in Milan.

October 2008 saw his Cube & Hex ranges shortlisted for the Cardiff Design Festival Awards, whereas in June 2007 his Brush Strokes coat/ bag ‘peg’ was short-listed for Product of the Year. In December 2005 his Luna furniture range was runner up in the BIDA Awards 2005 for Furniture Product of the Year.

Current research

Tim’s design philosophy is based around the interaction between object and user and how everyday objects and activities can become more pleasurable, memorable, satisfying yet enjoyable. This constant research is a result of a vibrant furniture practise, solutions of which can be viewed online at www.timothybenfurniture.co.uk

Tim believes that furniture is a fusion between disciplines and is fascinated by and constantly questions how objects and art & design disciplines can overlap in order to evoke questions between what is art, sculpture or a functional product?
