The Centre for Entrepreneurship works with a variety of organisations to help support and nurture students at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Big Ideas Wales
The Big Ideas Wales campaign is managed by the Youth Entrepreneurship Team at The Welsh Assembly Government and aims to encourage the young people of Wales to be more entrepreneurial. This campaign is part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy (YES): An action Plan for Wales 2010-15 . The strategy pulls together various different educational policies and aims to boost the entrepreneurial skills and attitudes of the young people in Wales aged between 5- 25.

Cardiff Metropolitan University is a part of the international Santander Universities network which specialises in supporting educational institutions. The Centre for Entrepreneurship has benefitted from this partnership as Santander have sponsored Countdown to Launch, the annual business start-up week. During the five day programme students learn about the steps needed to make their business idea a reality. On the final day students are given the opportunity to pitch for a share of the prize fund which is provided by Santander. Santander also provide representatives for the panel and to deliver a workshop on business banking and access to finance.
Business Wales, also funded through the Welsh Assembly Government, provides business support to people starting, running and growing a business. Their support for business includes information, advice and guidance delivered online, over the phone through the Business Wales Helpline, and face to face through their Business Wales centres.
Cardiff Met Careers Service
The careers service at Cardiff Met provide help and advice for students wishing to take a more traditional graduate employment pathway. Entrepreneurial students may be particularly interested in the opportunities offered by GoWales. Relevant work experience is essential for starting a business as well as for gaining a graduate position.
We are working closely with Cardiff Met Students' Union to develop Launchpad, which is our student run entrepreneurship society.
