The steps workshops are designed to help you to develop the skills you need to start your own business.
This year while planning the Steps series we surveyed students to find out which topics you would like to cover and we have devised the series as follows:
21st Jan – Workshop 1: 10 Top Tips for running your business professionally and efficiently. This workshop will focus on areas such as professional etiquette, organisational skills, sales skills and personal entrepreneurial skills. The workshop will be delivered by the team here at the Centre along with Richard Strudwick, founder of Enterprise Rich and Abi Owens, founder of MishMash Entertainment.
28th Jan – Workshop 2: Effective Networking. This will be delivered by Tracey Smolinski, founder of Wales' leading business networking specialist IntroBiz.
4th Feb – Workshop 3: Financial Planning for your start-up. Before you get started you need to make sure the numbers stack up. Learn how to plan and manage your finances with practical, easy-to-follow tips.
11th Feb – Workshop 4: Marketing on a budget. Marketing doesn't have to be expensive. Pick up some handy hints and tips for making your budget go further and getting free publicity. This will be delivered by the team and will also include a presentation from Cardiff Met graduate (and former SU President) Josh Barnett, founder of Treatment Clothing. Josh will be discussing how he has used social media effectively in his business.
18th Feb – Workshop 5: The Perfect Pitch: How to pitch your business idea. Learn how to pitch like a pro using the 'PICK Pocket' pitching method (try saying that 5 times really fast!). This will be delivered by the team and Lee Sharma, founder of Simply Do Start-up.
Each workshop will run from 5-7pm in the School of Management at Llandaff. To book onto any of the above workshops email firstname.lastname@example.org.
