Research activity in the Centre for Speech and Language Therapy has two major strands (see links for details):
In addition, we also carry out research on the development of professional identity in Speech and Language Therapists and on the lived experiences of adults using high-tech augmentative and alternative communication.
Much of our research involves national and international collaborations, notably with universities in Europe, the US, China and Japan. These have led to high-quality outputs in international journals, and presentations at national and international conferences. Centre staff have held grants from a number of funding bodies, including the EPSRC, the ESRC, the British Academy/ Leverhulme Trust and HEFCW. The Centre boasts state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment, and currently has six PhD students.
