  • Principles of selecting & blending essential oils
  • Olfaction Chemistry of essential oils
  • Treating common ailments with aromatherapy
  • Massage positions and techniques for unusual settings/situations
  • Aftercare and homecare advice
  • Liaising with other professionals
  • Codes of conduct and ethics
  • Current development and legislation in aromatherapy

Introduction to Research:

The module aims to support complementary therapy practitioners and health professionals working with complementary therapies to understand and work towards becoming more skilled in reviewing research literature and using a variety of tools to evaluate their practice.

  • Reading a research article
  • Choosing a research design
  • Using outcome measures
  • Objective and subjective measurement
  • Reliability and validity in measurement
  • Research using questionnaires
  • Research using attitude scales


Entry Requirements

In order to achieve the diploma students will need to already hold a recognised massage qualification.

Anatomy and Physiology - 4 hours per week (Terms 1& 2) Tuesdays
Introduction to Research – Friday 10.00-12.00 (Term 1)
Generic Business Module – Monday 10.00 – 12.00 (Term 1 Year 2)
Pathophysiology of disease – Monday 10.00-12.00 (Term 2 Year2
