Profile

Katie studied Speech and Language Therapy at University College London and qualified in 1999. She then worked in London for the next 12 years, mainly at the Royal Free Hospital, where she specialised in health services for older people and stroke. Whilst working at the Royal Free she studied part time to obtain an MSc in Ageing Health and Disease from Cardiff University. In 2011, Katie returned to live in Cardiff and took up the role of Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist for Stroke and Progressive Neurological Conditions in Powys. She has been working at Cardiff Metropolitan University since September 2015 where she offers clinical placements to students within the adult clinic and lectures in the areas of motor speech disorders and dementia. She completed a postgraduate certificate in teaching in academic practice in 2022 and was subsequently awarded fellowship of advanced HE status.
