My role at the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre

As a ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre (FIC) Food Technologist, I provide Technical support to Welsh food and drink manufacturing companies. Support is either funded through Welsh Government or by the companies themselves and typically involves carrying out internal audits, helping companies prepare for third party audits, advising on Local Authority queries, reviewing Quality Management Systems, writing HACCP plans, supporting New Product Development, carrying out chemical analysis of products, advising on shelf life determination, directing on legal labelling compliance and delivering food safety training.

I also work as an Associate Tutor supporting the Quality Assessment of the undergraduate and postgraduate Food Science and Technology degree programmes.

Previous Experience

Before working at the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre I worked at Memory Lane Cakes, part of the Finsbury Food Group, employed as a New Product Development Technologist and later as a Development Account Manager. During this time I worked with technologists and buyers from large retailers and managed the product development process from retailer brief through to product launch.
