Cardiff Metropolitan University’s summer school in English Literature and Creative Writing is taught by a team of literary experts and published authors. Our two-week residential summer school gives you an opportunity to get a flavour of our programme and to develop your writing in a country where poetry is the mother tongue. For award winning Welsh writer Jan Morris: ‘a Welshman's truth was more in the nature of a curve, and it is a fact that Welsh affairs are entangled always in parabola, double-meaning and implication.’ There is space for everyone and everything in the Welsh imagination.
Our summer school focuses, as Wales’ most famous poet Dylan Thomas did, on place. Through the core elements of the summer school - ‘Writing the City’ and ‘Literature and Landscape’ - we explore literature in context. Our home, Cardiff, is a multi-cultural capital city with a unique history and character. From flash fiction to novel writing, our creative writing tutors will facilitate your quest for narrative.
