Incoming Students

Welcome to Cardiff Met!

We hope that your stay at Cardiff Met will be beneficial for you both academically and culturally. It will give you the opportunity to not only improve your written and spoken English but also to learn something of Welsh and British culture. To this affect, you should try to mix as much as possible with the other students you are studying with and not just with fellow exchange students.

Applying as an Exchange student

If you would like to come to Cardiff Met as an EU Erasmus+ student you must complete the Erasmus Application Form. The application form must be completed and returned with the supporting documents to incomingexchange@cardiffmet.ac.uk

For students wishing to undertake an international exchange from a partner university or as a free mover/study abroad (fee paying).   To apply, please complete the attached application form and return it to incomingexchange@cardiffmet.ac.uk along with all supporting documents.

Information for International Erasmus+ students can be found here Erasmus International

International and EU students are required to have proficiency in the English language. Information on which English language certificate is required can be found here.

Accommodation

For halls of residence enquiries please contact Accommodation Services - accomm@cardiffmet.ac.uk.

Halls of Residence are mainly for first year undergraduate students. Some exchange students therefore find them to be too noisy for their own use and prefer to rent a house (a room within a house) directly. Other students, however, find them to be the best way to integrate with British students. You can also find private accommodation through the various letting agents in Cardiff. The city has a student population of around 40,000 students so there are lots of privately rented houses which you can share with other students.  Please be aware that the later you leave booking accommodation the less choice may be on offer.

The university DOES NOT offer a service to place exchange students in private accommodation. Students who are coming for one term only need to be aware that obtaining accommodation for three months can be quite difficult. Sometimes it is possible to obtain this accommodation by offering three months rent in advance.
