WSET Level 1 award in Wines

Course Length: 9 hrs usually run over 2 evenings.

Entry Requirements:
No formal qualifications are required. Applicants are assessed on an individual basis.

Course Content:

  • The main styles of wine

  • The WSET level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting

  • The characteristics of the common grape varieties used to produce wine

  • Service of wine

  • Health, safety and legal issues

  • The matching of food and wine

  • End of course examination

Course Objectives:
This qualification aims to provide the basic product knowledge and skills in the service of wine to prepare a person in or for their first job in the hospitality industry.

Course aimed at: 
Those starting their career in Hospitality at any age or those with a social interest in wine.
