Asif Zaman is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA), also an academic fellow of the Association of International Accountants, FAIA (ACAD). He is a full-time Senior Lecturer in Islamic Finance, Strategy and International Business at Cardiff School of Management. Asif is an AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Finance Institutions) compliant CIFE (Certified Islamic Finance Executive).

Prior to joining Cardiff Metropolitan university Asif worked for a number of years as a full time university lecturer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Where he developed and taught business and management subjects such as Project Management Professional (PMP certification course), Principles of Management, Business Ethics, Leadership and Teamwork, Time Management, and Ethical Awareness. He was responsible for mentoring and tutoring students from a range of nationalities, age and working backgrounds. The international experience is an advantage when lecturing / mentoring Cardiff Metropolitan University's international diverse portfolio of students. ​

In 2004 after completing his MBA at Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff Metropolitan University, he worked with industry professionals in the financial sector for commercial and private lending and also successfully ran his own financial consultancy enterprise.​

His other interests include walking, reading political / financial issues, cooking entertaining family and friends. Also, as an experienced fixed wing (aeroplane) private pilot he always enjoys piloting light and mid-range aircrafts as a leisure activity with friends & family.​​

Asif's  scholarly interest ranges from social sciences, project management to banking and finance / Islamic finance particularly in Shariah complaint Islamic finance / portfolio diversification / Islamic Finance Law and government policies of alternative finance.

Asif is currently perusing P/T PhD- research PhD- research in the field of finance / Islamic Finance. His PhD research focuses is on Islamic Securities, Portfolio diversification and stock market integration.
