Dr Hefin David holds a BScEcon in Economics and Politics, an MScEcon in European Policy, both from Cardiff University, a PGCE from the University of Wales, Newport and a PhD from the University Of Gloucestershire. His PhD research explored the first employment decisions and early experiences of employment of small firm owner managers.
Hefin is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and an Academic Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
He teaches Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. He leads the core MBA module 'People and Organisations' and the 'HR Strategy and Professional Practice' and 'Employment Relations' modules for undergraduates. Hefin has developed live cases and lively delivery methods within his teaching, ensuring that students gain an opportunity to experience real scenarios and not just text book examples. The modules require students to consider their own professional practice and measures to enhance their employability.
Hefin is also a County Borough Councillor and in this role he chairs the Council's Policy and Resources Scrutiny Committee, which is responsible for scrutinising HR and employment policies.
