Hélène's industry experience is varied and complementary: she started her career working for a large hotel group in Germany for several years in sales and Front Office management. After studying for an MSc in Tourism Management at Surrey University, she went on to work in the tourism industry in South Wales in a range of managerial appointments that allowed her to gain extensive experience in tourism marketing, event management as well as strategic funding and planning for key tourism projects. She has collaborated with a wide range of tourism, hospitality and events organisations and has developed particular interests in digital marketing related to small and micro tourism-related businesses as a result.
Hélène has been a part of the Tourism, Hospitality and Events team since 2005. She teaches subjects as varied as Managing Tourism in the Natural Environment, Field Study, Digital Marketing, Public and Media Relations, and Employability. Hélène is also the year tutor for Level 4 tourism programmes and supervises students on their final year dissertation projects.
Current research is a PhD focusing on the Digital Market Research Habits of Small and Micro Tourism Businesses in Wales.
