Langes started his career in Mega Projects, Super Structures, Built Environment, Construction Project and Contract Management subsequently moving to Oil and Gas Projects and Operations, Procurement, Contract, Supply Chain Management and Quality Management. He had been involved in various Mega Turnkey Design and Built, EPC, EPIC, FIDIC, EPCC, EPCM, EPCIC projects and programs. He has then moved to academia having trained and delivered successful MSc, MA and MBA Programmes for many nationalities from range of domains, sectors and industries including the UAE, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Netherlands, Nigeria, Chad, Angola, Liberia, China, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana, Uganda, Malaysia, UK and USA. He has also been instrumental in developing Project Management, Procurement, Purchasing and Contract Management manuals and handbooks for many large Oil and Gas Operators and Service Companies to ensure operational consistency and compliance to processes and procedures.
Langes has trained and delivered advanced business and management courses and programmes for wide range of professionals from BJ Services, Baker Hughes, Total, PERTAMINA, Oman Oil Company, Qatar Petroleum, NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation), Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), Pakistan State Oil, Sonatrach, Marafiq, Sonangol, Tadawul, ADCO (Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations) and PDO (Petroleum Development Oman).
Langes's home sector is in Project Management and Programme Management, Commercial and Contract management, Operations Management, Quality Management, Strategic Management, Strategic Leadership and Supply Chain Management transferable to wide range of domains.
Langes also has significant knowledge of programme development and approval processes including the requirements of a programme at the levels proposed. He has provided significant input (acted as critical friend) to approval panels evaluation of programmes, institutional led subject reviews, content currency and leading this part of the panel's discussion, ensuring compliance to academic regulations and standards.
Langes is an external examiner, quality assurance verifier ( academic regulations compliance check) and approved assessor with various UK Universities and their International Partner Institutions spanned globally including Professional Bodies on business and management subject areas such as Project Management, Operations Management, Quality Management, Strategic Management, Oil and Gas Management, Oil and Gas Project Management, MBA Generic, MBA Finance, MBA International, Information Systems Management, Oil and Gas Contract Law, Contract Management and Administration, Supply Chain Management, Strategic Procurement and Purchasing, Management Accounting and Finance and Strategic Management.
Langes has been part of approval, validation and accreditation events in UK's HE and their collaborative (international) partners in South-East Asia, Africa, Middle-East and Europe. He has visited many UK Universities partner institutions (collaborative partners and franchisees) span globally to review academic standards and quality assurances consistency and compliance across a range of centres. This review also covers quality of students experience such as marking and grading consistency, students' feedback, student progression and achievement, student support, employability and the quality management framework.
Langes has been appointed by Project Management Institute (PMI), US Standards to serve as a Core Committee member on the PMCDF-3rd Ed (Project Management Competency Development Framework). This committee has been commissioned to develop a Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Standard entitled Project Manager Competency Development Framework – Third Edition. This PMCDF is a widely used global standard to design and develop project management, program management and portfolio management skills and competencies framework by Corporates.
Langes is also currently serving as a SME for PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) Guide 6th Edition, act as a reviewer. The PMBOK Guide is the leading global standard for project management widely used by many organisations. The PMBOK Guide contains the processes, deliverables, tools and techniques that project management experts agree are necessary for most projects in most environments/context. The PMBOK Guide reflects the evolving knowledge within the project management profession.
Langes has also served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the PMI's Construction Extension to PMBOK Guide update. He had acted as a reviewer in updating the content of this Extension to reflect current thinking and practice in the management of Construction projects bring it in line with the guidance provided by the PMI's PMBOK Guide, fifth edition.
He has also been previously in the ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, UK) Offshore Project Management Working Group - Offering advice, guidance and appropriate direction in development initiatives which address the critical skills shortages facing the Offshore and wider EC Industry, advising the Offshore team in sourcing appropriate expert speakers nationally to develop specific skill sets across the PM disciplines, advising on the content of the Project Management Mentoring Pilot and the mapping of the matrix to the ECITB Project Management Competency Framework, approving the structure and review the processes associated with the Project Management Mentoring Pilot, and approving volunteer Mentors and Mentees & representing the working group and its activities within Industry and other Industry Associations.
His other professional engagement previously has been to serve as Higher Education Liaison with APM's (Association for Project Management) Aberdeen and North East Scotland Chapter - Managing, coordinating, networking and involving Higher Education Institutions joint programmes and students-practitioners events and activities. Secretary with APM's Aberdeen and North East Scotland Chapter. Coordinating, communicating, networking, organising Industry-Corporate Liaison CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities, conferences, events, seminars, workshops, organising meetings with like-minded professionals to promote the Project Management as a professional discipline. Committee member with APM's Portfolio Management SIG - Knowledge and web assets development and initiative through business, industry/corporate networking. CQI (Chartered Quality Institute) NoS (North of Scotland) Education and Media representative –broadcasting, promoting CQI activities, business-industry seminars, events in Aberdeen, North of Scotland's Industry, Business networking, Higher Education Institutions. CABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers) Committee Member for Scotland, UK Branch –networking, coordinating and organising Higher Education, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events and activities in Aberdeen and North East Scotland.
Langes also serves as Project Management Institute (PMI) OSV (Onsite Team Member/Team Lead) to accredit and validate GAC's (Global Accreditation Centre) Project Management Education and Curriculum.
