Since 2008 Mark has been working part-time at Cardiff Metropolitan University as a Personal Tutor, a pastoral and academic support role in the School of Management. It was through this work that he decided to undertake a qualification to become a Specialist Study Skills tutor for people with Specific Learning Differences (SpLD's) including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism, a role which he performs two days-a-week at the University of Gloucestershire, alongside his work at Cardiff Met. More recently, he has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in assessing for Dyslexia and Dyspraxia in Further and Higher Education.

Mark has been responsible for numerous and varied projects throughout his working life, and recently at Cardiff Met he has assisted the implementation of the SpLD Students' Forum, and has liaised with Student Services to help develop inclusive learning environments. Since working at the University of Gloucestershire, he has set up and is currently Chair of the Continuing Professional Development group for Specialist Study Skills tutors. Additionally, Mark serves as an Officer on the Executive Committee of the Association of Dyslexic Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE), and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
