Siân Taylor is a senior lecturer in International Business Management and Intercultural Diversity. She is also Year 3 tutor for the BA hons International Business Management programme. This entails supporting students who are already at the University and progressing into year 3, as well as welcoming many direct entry students from the UK and partner Institutions throughout Europe. Sian worked for many years in Marketing and Communications. She has held a number of management roles working in the public, private and not for profit sectors and charities. Siân's experience includes studying, living and working in a number of international environments and developing language skills in french, italian and german.
Siân made a move into Higher Education at the University of South Wales (formerly University of Wales College Newport) teaching organisational behaviour along with professional and communication skills. She later joined Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2004 and was asked to develop an intercultural programme of study for International Business Management students. The module has continued to develop and is now offered to other programmes and plays a part in internationalising the student experience.
Siân continues to be involved in wider business community and has undertaken a number of projects.
In addition she has been keen to develop and nurture links with overseas institutions and Businet partners to assist in student placements and work experience and collaboration with international communities. She recently took part in the ERASMUS teaching mobility programme teaching in Lyon.
Siân participates in 3 Field group areas, Strategy; Marketing and Languages and Intercultural Studies. She holds an MSc in Marketing and studied for an MBA.
Her undergraduate Studies were in International Business Administration. Sian has A PGCEd and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy along with qualifications in ToEFL.
More recently Siân has enrolled on a Phd and pursues research interests investigating the impact of social networking on decision making.
Siân is involved in a number of advisory activities, as a member if the Wellchild parent advisory group; dealing with policy and process of the charity for sick children. Also taking part in the Regional Advisory group for Wellchild setting up parent support in South Wales, for families with seriously ill children.
More recently she was invited to become a Trustee of Wellchild. Other responsibilities include acting as an ambassador for CEREBRA the charity for children with acquired brain injury and neurological diseases.
Sian is also involved in the steering group for a project with University of Surrey and University of Glasgow investigating e-health care and communications supporting families at home.
