Yi Wang used to work in the local government in Beijing as Government Debt Financing Assistant, after she obtained her master's degree in International Economics Banking and Finance at Cardiff University. She came back for PHD with Julian Hodge PhD Scholarship in Cardiff Business School in 2011.
Her research focuses on Applied Econometrics on policy making issues, e.g. public sector wage premium in the UK. Micro-founded economic models are used in the paper, combined with the Indirect Inference method. She was involved in an UK government project, and the report has been published on the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) website.
She teaches Microeconomics (Labour Economics and Health Economics), Econometrics (Quantitative Methods) for both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Cardiff Metropolitan University. She is also a teaching assistant in Cardiff University, covering both Economics and Finance modules.
