Dr Zhen (Jane) Wang joined Cardiff School of Management in 2004. Her main teaching area is language and academic skills. She is also the international student mentor and provides constant support for international students in the school.
Dr Wang graduated from Nottingham University in 1997 with a MA degree in English Language in Literary Studies. She then completed a PhD in Education with a thesis on teaching methodology from Birmingham University in 2001. Dr Wang has been working in the field of higher education for nearly 30 years now with a wide range of experiences in academic teaching and student support. She lectured in China from 1985 to 1996 and was involved in teaching, organising and co-ordinating English language programs for Chinese university students. In 2002 she also worked as a language instructor and senior education consultant in Vancouver, Canada promoting study abroad programs and providing advice and pastoral care to international students. Since she joined Cardiff School of Management in 2004, she has been involved in organizing and teaching a range of undergraduate business modules (e.g. Entrepreneurship and Enterprise, Personal Development Planning, Research Skills, Developing a Business, Academic Skills for Business 1, Work Experience/PDP, and Mandarin Chinese in Professional Context Level 1-3). She has also acted as the dissertation supervisor for both undergraduate and MBA students.
Dr Zhen Wang is interested in subjects related to cross-cultural teaching and learning, academic skills development and language teaching. She enjoys working with students from different cultural background and helping them to achieve their goals in education. In her spare time, she likes to travel to different places and explore the local history and culture.
