20Twenty graduate from EvaBuild is top of Fast Growth 50

Wales' fastest growing business EvaBuild has topped this year's Wales Fast Growth 50 with an extraordinary growth rate of 733.3% over two years.  Based in Newtown, EvaBuild is an award-winning construction company covering England and Wales and providing quality civil engineering and construction.

Nick Evans, co-owner and managing director, is a recent graduate of the 20Twenty Leadership Programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University. According to Nick: "To be the fastest growing firm out of a population of more than 230,000 businesses in Wales is a fantastic achievement, and this can be attributed to an outstanding effort by some key personnel within the company."

When asked about the impact of the 20Twenty Leadership Programme on his business Nick Evans said, "The 20Twenty Leadership Programme certainly added to my dynamic leadership skills through innovative workshops led by mentors and executive coaches. The programme provided a vibrant backdrop from the day-to-day managing of the business and enabled me to identify opportunities. In particular, a growth plan was written for the business which had a clear vision of where the business was heading in the future".

Director of the 20Twenty Leadership programme, Professor Brian Morgan, said: "It is always gratifying to see graduates of the 20Twenty programme putting their strategic growth plans into action but even we didn't expect to see the exceptional growth rate that Nick and his team have achieved.  We work closely with the participants on 20Twenty to ensure their growth plans are both sustainable and profitable."

Nick Evans seems very aware of the potential pitfalls of rapid growth and is not looking to repeat EvaBuild's stellar growth over the next 12 months : "We don't want to grow on the same trajectory until we find the key people," Mr Evans said.

The 20Twenty Leadership programme is subsidised by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.  For more information on the new 20Twenty Business Growth please contact Catherine Wilson on 02920 417160 or email cwilson@cardiffmet.ac.uk
