Cardiff Archers Athletics Celebrate Success at Annual Awards Evening

A successful sporting year for Cardiff Archers Athletics was celebrated at the 4th annual presentation evening this November. Around 150 people attended the event to celebrate the clubs team and individual successes over the 2015 and 2016 season.

Cardiff Archers is an Athletics Club and Academy for young athletes based at the National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC). Established in 2012, Cardiff Archers is a vibrant junior athletics club which developed from the existing junior athletics academy.  The club train young athletes from 5 years of age onwards and provide a platform for them to compete in both local and national competitions in Track and Field, Cross Country and Road Running.

Achievements from the club this year include becoming Nation Radio's Junior Team of the Year; winning the Welsh Junior League East Division; having at least 21 Welsh champions across track, field and cross country and 8 athletes earning their Welsh Vest, amongst other achievements.

The club continues to grow with currently over 280 competitive members and over 700 training spaces filled per week.

Phil Warwicker, Head Coach for Cardiff Archers Athletics said "We certainly have had a successful year as a club and we look forward to continuing this success into the season next year.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to our special guest Tom Marshall. As a multiple Welsh Champion over the middle distance races, the Welsh international held a question and answer session and assisted with handing out the awards. I wish Tom all the best, with the 2017 season fast approaching, we look forward to seeing him perform next year as he is only one second off the Commonwealth Games 'A standard' in the 1500m."
