Cardiff Met graduate Kay Wilson has recently been awarded the SuperGrad Player of the Tournament 2014 for her performances with Cardiff Met's Ladies RFC.
Kay was one of 24 finalists from the BUCS Big Wednesday Player of the Final entered into the National SuperGrad Player of the Tournament Competition. With over 8,000 votes being cast, it came down to a battle between 4 finalists, but there could only be one winner.
Kay has recently graduated from Cardiff Met with a degree in Sports Development and played for Cardiff Met RFC throughout her time at the university. She is an England International Player with 26 caps under her belt and is proving to be a rising star for English sport.
Kay played as part of the Cardiff Met RFC squad that demolished Leeds Met University 47-0 at the BUCS Rugby Union Finals at Twickenham earlier this year, scoring five of the tries for Cardiff Met and deservedly being awarded Player of the Final Award.
As part of the award Kay was given a cheque for £2,014 at the recent Conference Awards Dinner this month. Kay said, ''I loved playing at the BUCS Final event and The SuperGrad Player of the Tournament competition gave it an added spark. Sport is such a huge part of my life. I am going to use the prize money on new rugby kit, getting my rugby qualifications and all the petrol to get to and from games and training.''
