Cardiff Met Brings Partners Together for ‘Global Education without Borders’ conference

The University held its annual two-day partner conference last week and welcomed partners from 19 institutions in 13 countries.

Partners attended from Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Wales.

The conference was themed around Global Education without Borders and addressed topics such as the internationalisation of research and expanding reach through enterprise, from both a university and partner perspective; the value of Student Union engagement; the benefits of mobility. Cardiff Metropolitan University's new institutional strategy was also discussed.

Alison Johns, CEO at the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education presented on the importance of effective leadership in international higher education and Vivienne Stern, Director at Universities UK International, discussed the impact Brexit will have on international higher education.

Partners attended training sessions to enhance their knowledge of Cardiff Met systems including Moodle (the University's virtual learning environment); admissions; quality assurance and Library and IT Services and they also received an introduction to the University's state-of-the-art Bloomberg Financial Training Suite.  The conference also offered partners the chance to network and provided the opportunity to discuss transnational education processes.

Cardiff Met's President and Vice Chancellor, Professor Cara Aitchison, said:

"This is a new era for Cardiff Met and we value the input our partners far and wide make to the University across the world, as well as at both our Cardiff campuses.

Our new institutional strategy focusses on delivering high quality and high impact education which is practice-focused and professionally recognised. It incorporates research and innovation delivered through partnerships between our students and industry. We are fully committed to working together with our partners to enable all of our students- in Cardiff and across the globe - to fulfil their potential."
