Cardiff Met has risen in the Complete University Guide league table for the third year in a row and places five positions higher than last year’s ranking.
The latest Complete University Guide 2018 has placed the University 67th in its annual rankings, which is a rise of five places compared with last year.
The Guide provides comprehensive rankings of over 140 UK universities in one main table and in 70 subject areas. It is based on 10 measures, including student satisfaction, research quality, entry standards and spending on academic services.
President and Vice-chancellor of Cardiff Met, Professor Cara Aitchison commented:
“We are very pleased to see the continuation of our rise in the rankings in the Complete University Guide for the third consecutive year.
“This result reflects our high levels of graduate employment, research quality and student satisfaction – all of which are testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students alike.
“We are now entering an exciting new era at Cardiff Met as we build upon our successes with a new strategic plan and a new School of Technologies focussed on digital media and smart technology, data science and informatics and design technology and engineering; all areas that will meet increasing student demand and employer need.”
Dr Bernard Kingston, Chairman of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, said: “It is ten years since TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk launched its online university league tables, and they have proved their accuracy, independence and robustness over the decade.
“This year there is a considerable degree of stability at the upper end of the league table, as in the past. This stability, while it may not attract the headlines, demonstrates that the rankings fulfil our principal objective – to provide credible and freely accessible information for individuals seeking a university place.
“The Government has said that applicants need access to robust, timely and objective information, based on criteria that are straightforward and easily understood.
“We believe that TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk meets these criteria and more and we intend that this will remain the case for the next decade – and beyond. Indeed, we use the same three metrics which the Government plans to include in its much-heralded Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).”
