Cardiff Met students Sophie Luff and Carla Rudd have been selected to represent England Women’s Academy (EWA) two week tour of Sri Lanka to contest four T20’s and two fifty-over fixtures against Sri Lanka Women.

Sophie and Carla are currently completing their second year BSc Sport and PE programme based in the Cardiff School of Sport. Both girls are also part of the Cardiff MCCU squad and are fully involved with the all aspects of the centre based at Cardiff Met.

Commenting on their selection for the tour, Mark O’Leary, Cardiff MCCU Head Coach said, “Sophie and Carla fully deserve their England selection, I have nothing but the highest regard for their attitude towards their preparation and practice. Both have fully immersed themselves in the professional support structure that Cardiff MCCU provides for elite cricketers to graduate from the university and play First Class County and international cricket.’

‘Both Sophie and Carla train with the likes of Cardiff Met and Glamorgan CCC’s Andrew Salter and CMU and Sussex CCC’s Matthew Hobden both of whom are currently fully contracted to their counties whilst completing their final year of BSc Sports Coaching and BSc Management programmes respectively.”
