Cardiff Met has awarded Alun Davies with Honorary Fellowship



​Alun Davies DL, FCMI, FCIPD, at the recent ceremony to accepting his Honorary Fellowship.

​An honorary fellowship has been awarded to Alun Davies at Cardiff Metropolitan University's annual degree ceremony earlier this month, held at St David's Hall.

The ceremony, open and closed by The Rt. Hon the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Margaret Jones, held on the 13th of November saw a total of 321 students cross the stage to receive their awards.

Alun, born in Cardiff, attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Wales. He was honoured to be selected as an Equerry to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. His last duty in that role was as an usher at the wedding of Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.

As well as this Alun is known for having a successful career in business. He was Director of RACE Electronics, Milford Docks Company and Managing Director of Grosvenor Waterside.

He is a past Chairman of the Rhondda Cynon Taff Business Partnership. In 2007 Alun was appointed Chairman of Conservative Business Relations Wales. In 2011 he was appointed as Honorary Consul for Hungary. In 2013 Alun was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant of Glamorgan. In November 2013, he retired after ten years as Honorary Secretary (Chief Executive) of the Cardiff Business Club, the senior forum of its kind in Wales.
