Cardiff Met runs to success in celebration of 150 years!

A strong contingent of staff, students and alumni took to the streets of Cardiff on Sunday the 4th of October to tackle the 13.1 mile Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon.

To celebrate Cardiff Metropolitan University's 150th anniversary, 150 runners completed this year's Cardiff Half Marathon with numbers 1865 – 2015.

This year marks the second year of Cardiff Met's partnership with the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon, and as one of the official race partners it was a great opportunity for the University to show the strength of support towards the second largest half marathon in the UK.

The runners were a mix of students and staff, and included elite runners such as James Thie, Cardiff Met Athletics Coach and Commonwealth 1500m athlete.  The University also entered 4 corporate relay teams, these included representatives from Library Services, Alumni and KITE Food Industry Centre.

Cardiff Met provided support in the runners' village offering complimentary post-race sports massages and reflexology – the team gave approximately 300 massages. Nutrition students also offered expert nutritional advice and drinks and 40 student volunteers provided much needed support at the Roath Park Water Station.

Cardiff Met looks forward to next year's race, where we hope to see just as many staff, students and alumnus taking part.
