Cardiff Met swimmers make a splash at the BUCS Championships

Cardiff Metropolitan University is celebrating the success of its swimming team at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championships.

Seven members of the team made the finals of the championships, with two swimmers taking home gold medals, with seven also beating their personal bests.

Ollie Coe, Ieuan Lloyd, Joe Parker and Matt Edwards all scored points in the 100m Freestyle Relay and the 100m Medley Relay, with Matt also scoring points in the 1500m Front Crawl.

As one of the university's most talented swimmers, Ieuan won gold medals in the 200m Front Crawl and 200m Individual Medley, adding to his impressive list of accolades.

Sophie Roberts, Meri Lynn, Leah Cooper and Keely Empsom all succeeded in the 100m Freestyle Relay, while Ella Hillier also took points for her performance in the 800m Front Crawl.

As well as triumphing in the 800m, Ella has also been selected to represent the Isle of Wight at the Jersey Island Games 2015.

Dave Cobner, Director of Sport for Cardiff Metropolitan University said: "This has been a fantastic week for our swimming team who are truly committed and dedicated to their sport.

"We are currently sitting in 13th position, which considering the fact that each swimmer is limited to only three events at long course, is fantastic.

"We are now looking ahead to the league finals in four weeks' time and are confident that with the hard work and determination of our talented team, they will do well in the event."
