Cardiff Metropolitan University's Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Professor Mohamed Loutfi, and Mr Lloyd Powell, Head of Partnerships, visited Sri Lanka to attend the graduation ceremony at the International College of Business and Technology (ICBT). ICBT also launched their new campus in Colombo.
ICBT has more than 7000 full-time students currently enrolled and an alumni of over 30,000, students making it one of the leading tertiary education providers in Sri Lanka with the largest number of students in the private sector higher education category.
ICBT Campus is the only partner institute for Cardiff Met to deliver its full programs in Sri Lanka and was recently made an Associate College of the University.
At the ICBT graduation ceremony awards were presented for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Degrees were awarded to students of BA (Hons) Business and Management Studies, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, Master of Business Administration, MSc Marketing, BSc (Hons) Psychology and BA (Hons) Educational and Early Childhood studies.
Cardiff Met's Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Professor Mohamed Loutfi, addressed the ceremony during the graduation. He said: 'Since 2010, several thousand students have graduated from the Cardiff Met degrees offered at ICBT Campus. We are very careful to ensure that our partners are able to deliver a high standard of university education; this is certainly the case with ICBT.' Professor Loutfi also praised ICBT on opening a new campus in Colombo: 'The new campus in Colombo will enhance the overall learning experience provided for students studying on the Cardiff Met programmes at ICBT in Colombo.'
Dr Mohan Pathirana, Executive Director/CEO of ICBT, commented on ICBT and Cardiff Met's partnership: 'Over the last five years, the partnership with Cardiff Met has flourished and student numbers have exceeded the anticipated levels. The 2015 Cardiff Met and ICBT Campus ceremony is one of the largest graduation ceremonies to be held in Colombo. We are extremely proud to have been collaborating with Cardiff Met since 2010.'
