Cardiff Met welcomes delegates to discuss ‘Gender Equality in Science and Sport’

​Cardiff School of Sport and Cardiff School of Health Sciences recently delivered a joint event entitled 'Gender Equality in Science and Sport: Making it Happen' held at Centro, Cyncoed campus.

Delegates from across the University as well as some external guests came together on Cyncoed campus to talk about the issues around equality and sport. Speakers included Professor Diane Kelly from Swansea University, Adele Baumgardt, Vice-Chair of Sport Wales and Professor Scott Fleming from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The event was opened by Cardiff Metropolitan University's Deputy Vice Chancellor and Director of Student Experience Jacqui Hare and Dean of Cardiff School of Sport, Professor Richard Tong.

Katie Thirlaway, Deputy Dean of Cardiff School of Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University commented on the success of the event, ''we were delighted with the level of support for the event - especially from the University's senior managers. The Schools of Sport and Health Sciences are helping to lead the work on gender equality at Cardiff Met, and we're keen now to build on the enthusiasm and momentum that were so obvious at the symposium.''
