Former Business and Management student, Ed Jones has opened the third branch of his successful Magic Wrap chain in Cardiff.
Ed, who graduated in 2006 from Cardiff Met (then UWIC), has used the knowledge and expertise gained on the course to open up the popular, healthy and affordable deli take away.
He founded Magic Wrap in 2008 with his father because of a desire to provide people with a healthier on-the-go alternative to the fast food currently on offer.
Ed said: "When I was a student I noticed there weren't many healthy and affordable meals available. Most of the food that I could afford were usually high calorie, high fat or high carb, and the healthy alternatives were usually pricey. I opened Magic Wrap as I wanted students to have more healthy choices, but also to provide people with healthy lunchtime food."
The healthy food chain offers customers a custom healthy wrap with a choice of different fillings inside Lebanese Khobez bread which is low in fat and salt and is Vegan-friendly.
Magic Wrap's three shops are in Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay, Barrack Lane in the City Centre and one in Cardiff University's Student Union in Cathays. Ed plans on opening a network of Magic Wraps across university campuses.
Speaking about Cardiff Met, Ed said: "I really enjoyed the course and my time at Cardiff Met. The business and management course gave me the right knowledge about how to start and run a business and that knowledge gave me the confidence to put what I learned in to action.
"There is a great balance of practical and theory on the course and my lecturers were always clear on the information they provided. I would definitely recommend the course to students who want to gain an insight into business and I hope my story will encourage students to pursue their own goals."
