A graduate of Cardiff Metropolitan University's 20Twenty Leadership Programme has been named winner in the Leadership for the Future category at this year's tenth Leading Wales Awards.
Tom Wood was recognised for his accomplishments within RWA, a broker support and compliance consultancy of financial advisers, where he is Director.
Held in association with Cardiff Metropolitan University, the Wales-wide awards celebrate outstanding leadership as the key driver of the growth of the economy of Wales and the Leadership for the Future category was sponsored by Cynnal Cymru – Sustain Wales.
Mr Wood, who has worked with RWA for the past seven years, said: "The Leadership for the Future category is important to me personally as it recognises sustainable leadership and the hard work we are doing at RWA to build for the future. We are passionate about achieving commercial success through developing our people and our client partnerships and by developing relationships with community groups and stakeholders to whom we can volunteer our skills and resources".
Director of the 20Twenty Leadership programme, Professor Brian Morgan said: "I am very happy to congratulate Tom, a former graduate of the 20Twenty Leadership Programme on being honored and recognised for his leadership work.
"Tom demonstrated outstanding leadership and maintained a clear sense of purpose throughout the 20Twenty programme. He successfully developed critical thinking in areas such as innovation, leadership, marketing and finance and implemented them within his organisation. I wish him every success in the future."
Tom believes that the 20Twenty Leadership made a real impact on him both personally and professionally. He said: Having completed the 20Twenty programme, I was able to demonstrate my own personal commitment to developing myself as a leader. It is because of the programme that RWA as a company is putting in place the foundations for sustainable business growth. Completing the Strategic Growth Plan on the programme gave me the tools and knowledge needed to articulate our plans and successes in both the application and interview stage of the award.
"The Programme gave me the confidence to take the business to the next level, where it needed to be. It gave me the focus to look ahead to the future rather than manage the day to day operations. We have been through a significant element of change over the last few years and have grown rapidly."
The next 20Twenty Leadership programme will begin on September 9th. The programme is subsidised by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. For more information, please go to: www.20twentyleadership.org
