Modernist Network Cymru officially launched recently with its inaugural event, 'A Century On: Modernist Studies in Wales'.
Modernist Network Cymru is a new scholarly network that aims to bring together academics and postgraduate students working on modernism in Wales. It joins similar networks across the UK, including Scotland, London and the North of England.
This first event has been organised by four dedicated committee members, including Cardiff Metropolitan's School of Education lecturer, Dr Elizabeth English.
Their first conference: 'A Century On: Modernist Studies in Wales', looked at the range and diversity of research into modernism in Wales today, including research into Welsh modernist writers and artists.
Dr Elizabeth English, commented on the success of the event,
"MONC's launch event was a terrific success. We were fortunate to have a host of exciting papers which provoked stimulating discussions. The conference testified to the richness of research taking place on modernism in Wales and beyond today. We hope this to be the first of many events organised by the network."
