Cardiff Met Widening Access has recently delivered an accredited Psychology course, hosted by Taff Housing Association. As a result, seven participants were accepted onto the Foundation leading to Social Sciences programme.
Since last April, Taff Housing Association has invited its tenants and members of the wider community the opportunity to attend free training. This includes a wide range of topics including money management and childcare. Two new courses offered are delivered by Widening Access: including Computer Skills and an Introduction to Psychology.
The courses have proven so popular that Taff are already planning a follow on course as a progression route for learners in the future.
As a result of the recently delivered Introduction to Psychology course, delivered by Cardiff Met Lecturer, Dr Clare Glennan, seven participants successfully completed exams and have been accepted onto a Social Sciences programme.
One of the students described the course as, ''Life changing – It has given me the opportunity FINALLY to attend University, you will never know how much I appreciate this opportunity I finally have the ability to change mine and my daughter's lives, Clare the Tutor is amazing!''
