Cardiff Metropolitan University has been successful in securing an additional half a million Euros worth of funding for its EU-METALIC II Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project.
An agreement was signed this month between the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and Professor Antony Chapman, Cardiff Met's Vice Chancellor.
The funding is to be used towards awarding an additional 25 mobilities of Moroccan candidates to various EU destinations such as UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Croatia. Mobilities will be granted across 4 different levels to include: Master, Doctorate, Post Doctorate, and Staff.
Through these additional mobilities, Cardiff Met aims to promote European Higher Education in order to help improve and enhance the career prospects of students. In turn, this will promote intercultural understanding through cooperation with Moroccan Higher Education Institutions, in accordance with EU external policy objectives in order to contribute to Morocco's sustainable development in the field of Higher Education.
Professor Mohamed Loutfi, Pro Vice Chancellor (International), commented on the agreement: 'This additional funding is excellent news for Cardiff Met as Coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus EU-METALIC II project. It will provide more opportunities for students and Higher Education professionals from Morocco to study or work in various EU countries. We are delighted to have been selected for this additional funding.'
