Application Process



​The normal minimum entrance requirements to study for an MPhil or PhD is an upper second class honours undergraduate degree or better from a recognised higher education institution, or a post graduate qualification deemed by Cardiff Met to be equivalent to this level.

The usual minimum entrance requirement for a Professional Doctorate is a taught Postgraduate Diploma or the equivalent of one year of full-time supervised postgraduate work in a related subject field.

All applications to Cardiff Met are made via our online system.  You will be required to upload a copy of your research proposal and a supporting document.

An application can be made any time of the year although you are advised to do so as early as possible prior to your intended commencement date.  Your application will be considered by the School or Unit in which your research is likely to be undertaken - another reason why it is a good idea to contact the relevant School to discuss your project before completing an application form.

As part of the application process, you will be interviewed.  This will give you the opportunity to discuss your proposed project in details with members of academic staff.
