Additionally Laurie supports much of the research undertaken by undergraduate, post-graduate and post-doctoral researchers helping to make informed decisions regarding equipment and methodological best practice.
Research / Publications
I am currently conducting research with the Sports Biomechanics research group in the area of biomechanics and motor-control. My PhD research is focused on the influence of task constraint and training drills upon elite sports performance. In particular, looking at the pole vault approach phase in both elite and developmental populations.
Director of Studies: Professor Gareth Irwin
Supervisor: Dr. Ian Bezodis
Teaching and Supervision
I currently contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and post-graduate Biomechanics modules including Biomechanics, Functional Anatomy of Sport & Exercise and Sport Biomechanics and Theoretical & Experimental Sport Biomechanics. I also teach on Athletics Performance modules.
I currently provide biomechanical support to a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes and work with Seiko timing systems on behalf of the IAAF at athletics world championships.
