Rob is a Senior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning, delivering primarily on the BSc Sport Conditioning Rehabilitation and Massage and MSc Strength and Conditioning degree programmes within the Cardiff School of Sport. He teaches widely across these programmes but specialises in Strength and Conditioning with youth athletes within his teaching and research.​

Rob has also provided a range of support services to national and international governing bodies and athletes. He currently leads the delivery of Strength and Conditioning for performance tennis players in the South Wales performance network including those based at Cardiff Met Tennis Academy. Rob has been an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC) with the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) since 2008, and also is a LTA Performance Coach and Coach education tutor.​

Research / Publications

My research interests focus upon Strength and Conditioning and Physiology of performance within paediatric/ youth populations, and the implementation of Long Term Athletic Development. These interests include the development of strength, power, speed and agility in youth athletes with age and maturation, Long Term Athlete Development, Youth Physical Development and the physiology of tennis performance.

Teaching and Supervision

I deliver on modules within the BSc Sport Conditioning Rehabilitation and Massage and MSc Strength and Conditioning degree programmes, primarily in the area of Strength and Conditioning with some contributions to Rehabilitation and Physiology modules. I’m currently the module leader for the Introduction to Strength and Conditioning module.  I currently sit on the Cardiff School of Sport Research Ethics committee and have previously fulfilled the role of Programme Director for the BSc Sport Conditioning Rehabilitation and Massage (2010-2014).
